The "B" Bag

Some months ago, my mother and I were exploring up in Port Townsend.  Among other stops, we popped into Quilted Strait, a glorious quilt shop.  We browsed and I found a couple pieces of fabric, and she was quite taken by a purse they had.  I saw that they had a kit, and asked her if she would like me to make it for her Mother's Day gift.

(Please note that we are now some months beyond Mother's Day....)

She said yes, I bought the kit, and sourced some Soft & Stable purse stabilizer from one of my quilt guilds.

The purse in question is the "Midi" size of The "B" Bag.

I added two internal patch pockets that the pattern does not include.  Just fuss-cut out a pair of the birds from the exterior and measured it to fit.  They are entirely hand-sewn on.

I figured that way, she won't have to hunt for her phone or keys in the bottom of the purse.

Overall, I like the pattern, and I have enough Soft & Stable to make another one.  But I wish I'd known going in that the two halves are joined by hand-sewing.

In any case, the purse is finished, and ready to very belatedly deliver to my mother when I see her on Friday.
